Lessons are given
on a weekly basis and are thirty minutes in length. Beginners start
with “method books” that teach basic note reading and rhythm
skills. When the student begins reading with ease supplementary books
are added to create more interest and diversity. At that time the student
is encouraged to select the type of music he enjoys choosing from jazz,
blues, hymns, popular hits, or classics.
If desired, an
additional fifteen minutes is added to the lesson to include the “Computer
Enrichment Program”. Instructional programs, mostly in game
format, teach fundamentals such as note recognition, keyboard familiarity,
rhythm, ear-training, and theory. More advanced students study the
great composers, musical instruments, history, and terminology. These
activities are designed to be fun and challenging and progress is
recorded weekly.
Lessons are available on an individual basis for ages six –
adult, however beginners may option to start in a piano class with
other beginners at a reduced fee.
