Learning to play piano
is FUN!!! Imagine having friends over and being able to play the latest
hits or some cool blues tune or some Mozart! Or perhaps at Christmas playing
carols for your family to sing along! Think how satisfied you would feel
perfecting music by Beethoven, Elton John, or Thelonious Monk!!!!
BUT------- besides being fun learning to play can make you SMART!!!!
“New studies suggest that playing music – and even just listening
to it – improves learning, memory, logic, and general creativity.”
Akron Beacon Journal – l998
“Music is a more potent instrument than any other for education,
and children should be taught music before anything else.” Plato
Starting with piano instruction at a young age is the best way to lay
the foundation for further musical pursuits. Because, unlike other instruments,
the piano is complete unto itself, its study teaches the basics of note
reading, rhythm, and listening skills required by all the other instruments.
The discipline of regular practice and lesson attendance develops character
and promotes desirable life-long habits.
When starting piano lessons it is imperative find an experienced, qualified
teacher. Getting a good start and developing correct technical skills
leads to successful playing and beautiful music. This, in turn, builds
self-esteem, confidence, and self-satisfaction.
